PEI’s Largest Immigration Draw of 2026
Prince Edward Island (PEI) has conducted its largest provincial immigration draw of the year, continuing its efforts to attract skilled workers and international graduates to support the province’s labour market needs.
In its latest Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) draw held on June 18, 2026, the province issued 168 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) through its Labour Impact and Express Entry streams, making it the largest selection round of 2026 so far.
Focus on In-Demand Workers
As with previous draws this year, PEI targeted candidates already working in the province in occupations and sectors considered critical to the local economy. Priority continues to be given to individuals employed in areas experiencing labour shortages, including healthcare, skilled trades, manufacturing, and other high-demand industries.
The province has also maintained its focus on retaining international graduates from local institutions, including:
- University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI)
- Holland College
- Collège de l’Île
Graduates from these institutions continue to receive priority consideration in PEI’s immigration selections.
PEI Continues a Consistent Immigration Strategy
Throughout 2026, Prince Edward Island has consistently prioritized candidates who are already contributing to the province’s workforce and economy. The province’s selection criteria have remained largely unchanged, emphasizing applicants with strong ties to PEI and occupations that address immediate labour market needs.
PEI remains one of the few provinces that publicly releases its anticipated draw schedule, providing greater transparency for prospective immigrants planning their pathway to permanent residence.
What This Means for Immigration Candidates
The increase in invitations is positive news for skilled workers and international graduates seeking permanent residence through a provincial nomination pathway. A provincial nomination can significantly strengthen an applicant’s immigration prospects and, for Express Entry candidates, can result in an additional 600 CRS points.
As provinces continue to address labour shortages through targeted immigration programs, candidates with work experience in high-demand sectors and strong provincial connections may benefit from increased opportunities in 2026.
At Method Immigration, we continue to monitor provincial immigration developments and help individuals identify the best pathway to permanent residence in Canada.
