Can I be eligible for more than one program under Express Entry?
Under the Express Entry system, candidates are assessed based on several factors, including age, language proficiency, education, work experience, and other factors that may contribute to their ability to successfully integrate into the Canadian labour market.
Candidates can be eligible for one or more of the following programs under Express Entry:
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC): This program is for individuals who have gained skilled work experience in Canada within the last three years. To be eligible, candidates must have at least one year of skilled work experience in Canada and meet other criteria, such as language proficiency and education requirements.
- Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP): This program is for skilled workers with foreign work experience who have the skills and experience needed to contribute to the Canadian economy. To be eligible, candidates must meet certain requirements related to language proficiency, education, work experience, age, and other factors.
- Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP): This program is for individuals with experience in skilled trades who want to immigrate to Canada. To be eligible, candidates must have at least two years of work experience in a skilled trade, meet language proficiency requirements, and meet other criteria related to education and job offer requirements.
If a candidate is eligible for more than one of these programs, the Express Entry system will prioritize their eligibility and invite them to apply for the program for which they are most eligible, based on the following order: CEC, FSWP, then FSTP.
If a candidate declines an invitation to apply for a program, they will be placed back into the pool and may be invited again in the future based on the same order of program eligibility. However, it is important to note that receiving an invitation to apply does not guarantee that the candidate will be granted permanent residence in Canada.
They will still need to meet all the eligibility requirements and pass the necessary security and medical checks.
