Passport Fees Set to Rise
The Government of Canada has announced that most passport and travel document fees will go up on March 31, 2026 — the first adjustment in over a decade. This change reflects inflation and the rising costs of delivering secure, reliable passport services for Canadians and residents.
💸 What’s changing?
📍 10-year adult passport — slight increase
📍 5-year adult passport — slight increase
📍 Child passport — small rise
📍 Travel documents & urgent services — updated rates
(Full updated fee details are available on the official Canada.ca page.)
🗓 Important to know:
Applications received on or after March 31 will be subject to the new fees, so if your passport is up for renewal soon, it may be worth starting the process before the increase takes effect.
📍 In addition, starting April 1, 2026, passport applications completed within 30 business days will be processed on time — and if processing exceeds that standard, applicants will receive an automatic refund based on how far outside the standard it falls.
At Method Immigration, we help clients understand how changes like these can affect travel and documentation planning, so you stay prepared and avoid surprises.
