What do the new Express Entry updates mean? Complex wording from IRCC
IRCC have released a recent update to CRS points within the Express Entry system. However, the wording is very complex and hard to interpret. Please see a clearer explanation below:
– Any job title on the new list of ‘high wage positions’ (link below), can add additional points to an Express Entry Application (if the job is an ‘eligible job offer’ according to IRCC) – without the Applicant needing to meet the median wage requirement. This is the case even if the Applicant does not meet the median wage requirement for their particular NOC code.
‘High wage positions’ list is here:
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/check-score/high-wage.html#list
– IRCC have automatically calculated the median wages for each NOC code – and given them a factor (x2; x1.5; x1.3).
– The Applicant does not have to calculate or compare their own wages to the National Canadian wage for that NOC code.
– The Express Entry draws will pause while the system recalculates qualifying profiles.
– No LMIA is required for the additional points.
– If you also have qualifying work experience in the NOC code, you may be able to claim additional points for that too.
